Before the cup, roasting is the most important stage in coffee production, and can be the make or break of a good cup of coffee.
Roasting is when the hard work of the coffee farmer is celebrated. The farmer grows it, harvests it and ships it. To afford their coffee any less than the utmost respect at the roasting stage would be a tragedy.
We are specialists in small batch roasting, a time-honoured artisan method, which uses much smaller machines and less than 25kg of beans per roast, to ensure the utmost freshness and an even more refined taste.
Our aim is simple: to consistently roast and blend bloody good coffee, supplied fresh from our roastery to our customers in the shortest time possible.
By meeting this simple aim we think we’ll be helping to achieve something much bigger: promoting an independent coffee culture where locally roasted coffee is favoured over stale and mediocre mass-produced alternatives.
NOTE:
Our roasting day is currently a Tuesday, so to ensure we’re sending you our coffee at it’s freshest please allow up to a week for a delivery of your order so we can get the timing just right!
Growing conditions and other environmental factors vary greatly across the planet and so it’s no surprise that coffee grown in one country will be different from the next.
Coffee prefers to grow in the warmer latitudes between the Tropicof Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. This band of latitudes is often referred to as the ‘coffee belt’ and within this band a vast array of variables exist including altitude, rainfall, soil conditions and sunlight, all of which will alter the outcome of how your coffee will taste and from here we choose what will best suit our coffee profiles.
