We’ve been waiting for a good natural Yirgacheffe to add to our list and finally we’ve been rewarded with something special. This coffee comes from the washing station at Beriti, which is in the village of Tore, in the famous Yirgacheffe region. The altitude and micro-region typically create a more floral notes in washed coffees from here, balanced by a creamy citrus. The naturals like this exhibit boozier berry notes and this one deliver’s big time.
There are about 600 producers in the region who are served by Beriti washing station, many of whom own less than 1 hectare of farmland on which they typically grow other crops like bananas and corn. The washing station was founded in the year 2000 and produces both Natural and Washed lots.
TASTE: FRUITY AND FLORAL WITH CHOCOLATE, BERRY, CHERRY AND VANILLA FLAVORS, A SOMEWHAT BOOZY AFFAIR; SWEET WITH BIG FRUIT ACIDITY AND A SMOOTH MOUTHFEEL
